(Also really love the "Nikui the Ripper" nickname r/anime gave the main character)

The whole fight would have flew over my head if my curiosity didn't bother me enough to look up what happened.Īdmittedly I remember being excited after watching episode 12, because that was the only episode where I understood everything that was going on and thus didn't need to look up explanations, but that's not exactly a good thing going with the anime, considering that episode 12 is the penultimate one. The fight against Dan Blackmore (Robin Hood's Master) was the most noticeable example of them all requiring you to have an intricate understanding of the geography of the map to understand how the main character managed to outsmart Dan. I remember watching it a few months ago, and after every episode, going to r/anime for the episode discussion threads, because I get so confused by what is going on and what is happening in each episode, since the anime does so little explanation (and this is coming from me, who played through Fate/extra like five times lol). I agree that Shaft wasn't the appropriate group for Extra but you have to acknowledge they did an effort to give us an experience. I mean, Kagerou Daze got hit hard by this and not many complained (from what I've seen) about it, but that's they way Shaft do things. Of course, the anime suffered much because of the focus in 'lore, mystery, and emotional ties'. I like the effort Encore did to show it by having the Servants and their Masters take control of an entire floor, showing the vast capabilities of the Moon Cell in Extra. Except it's downplayed by the leveling mechanic to our MC and their Servant, creating a sense of 'grinding' like in any other RPG. In the Extra, the Servants can do whatever they want with no restriction to their NPs and abilities except for their Master's orders because the Moon Cell supports them with no limits, making the battles more dangerous than the Stay Night and Apocrypha. I do enjoyed and I love the effort Shaft did to show us the mindfuckery that is Fate/Extra because let's be honest, if it weren't for the rock-paper-scissors gameplay and the dungeon crawling experience Fate/Extra is really way different from FSN and Apocrypha. On the other hand, it seems to me that this incarnation is a stand-alone in the entire series, an off-shoot from the entire series' plot. , mindfuckery becauae it seems to be made with the idea the viewers already have an idea what the fuck Fate/Extra was.
